008 : Disney movie and Orchestra
Sunday, February 26, 2012; 6:23 PM
Hello bloggie! Blog time! :P
Let's see, what do I need to say...
A few days ago (well, can say it's already almost a week ago), I went to the movies with my best buddies
Gene and
Arvin, my darling
Yeehua (do visit her blog! She just started a new one! :D) and not forgetting my fluffy boy. ♥
We watched a Disney classic called "Beauty and the Beast", in 3D. Yes, in 3D. :D
It really brought back my childhood memories. Re-watching a Disney movie that I watched when I was young. So nostalgic. :)
Okay, continue with another one. Last night, there was a open air concert, an orchestra concert held in my dad's university,
Wawasan Open University. The concert was performed by the
Penang Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO). The theme for the concert was
Cinematic Greats and Jazz and the conductor was
Maestro Woon Wen Kin.
A little bit of info for you guys about me. I used to be in the orchestra, it was previously known as Penang Symphonic Orchestra (PSO) and it was recently renamed to PPO last year. I stopped participating because of the traveling (since I'm staying in mainland and the practices are in Penang island) and time (always held on Friday nights).
I was there early, as I need to follow my dad early. He have to make sure everything is going smoothly.

Preparations for the concert |
And it actually rained when they were preparing for the concert. LOL! We thought that it's not gonna work out. But thankfully, the rain stopped. Sadly, we had to use the plastic chairs since all the cushion chairs were soaked.
 |
The concert programme |
After a few hours waited, and the concert began at around 8.40pm.
 |
So, it begins. :P |
 |
Singer name Siti Andy singing Getaran Jiwa written by the late P.Ramlee |
The songs performed were mostly jazz songs and also classical songs. They also performed a few famous pieces such as
Memory from Cat, Beauty and the Beast, Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin (The moon represents my heart) (which was actually sung by
Siti Andy!),
Shanghai Beach (Long ban, long lau. :P), I dreamed a dream, The Prince of Egypt, Selections from the Phantom of the Opera, Selections from the Sound of Music and lastly
Pomp and Circumstance March No.1 (the last song of the night).
And during the last song, there... were... FIREWORKS! :D
 |
Fireworks during the song Pomp and Circumstance March No.1 was played. |
It was spectacular, although there were times the fireworks didn't really "exploded" as it was suppose to be.
 |
And so, it ends. |
Overall, the whole concert was amazing, and it made me miss playing in the orchestra. :)
